John is Associate Professor at the Institute for Name-Studies, University of Nottingham, where he has worked on recent Shropshire volumes of the Survey of English Place-Names. His work focuses on the use of place-names within multi- and interdisciplinary methodologies, particularly in the study of the medieval landscape.
