Project Details: MA Dissertation – Aspects of medieval Newark on Trent, focusing on trade and economy, religious life, and landscape revealed through the records of the mercantile and religious elite.
Supervisor Dr Richard Jones (University of Leicester)
Research Overview:
Anne is a logistics professional studying part-time for an MA in English Local and Family History. She is interested in medieval transport and trade and in uncovering the history of medieval landscapes through historical records. Whilst the Civil War history of Newark has been researched extensively, the medieval period has largely been overlooked, and Anne hopes to shed light on this period in the town’s development. Anne is also interested in archaeology and family history, and she is the current Chairperson of the local Hidden Heritage Group. Her aims for 2019 are to complete the dissertation and to master GIS mapping.
