Prof Sam Turner is Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at Newcastle University. He is currently Editor for the MSRG. His research interests include the long-term history of landscapes since the Roman period and medieval archaeology, in particular early medieval religion. His current and recent projects include work at and around Bede’s monastery of Wearmouth-Jarrow, research on early medieval churches and landscapes in Ireland, and studies of medieval and later landscapes in Greece and Turkey. Sam is also co-editor, with Bob Silvester, of the MSRG volume Life in Medieval Landscapes: People and Places in the Middle Ages.
