Gareth is the Director of Trent & Peak Archaeology in Nottingham, part of the York Archaeological Trust, and he is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Department of Archaeology, University of Nottingham. Gareth is an experienced field archaeologist and a full member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists. Gareth’s research interests include early medieval rural and urban settlement, settlement hierarchies around the North Sea, and survey and excavation methods. Formerly focussing his research on East Anglia, Gareth has more recently published on aspects of early medieval settlement in both Derbyshire and Nottingham.
