Dr Colleen Batey is Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Glasgow. She has been involved in field archaeology for over 35 years and during that time has directed and co-directed excavations in Orkney, Shetland, St Kilda, and Cornwall (Tintagel). She is a specialist in Norse material culture and works closely with several ongoing major projects, as well as advising the Institute of Field Archaeology, Reykjavik, in aspects of artefactual studies. Dr Batey supervises several Postgraduate students on aspects of Norse Archaeology and Culture. In addition, she lectures around the world on the Vikings and the Norse expansions as both Expedition Team member and Guest Lecturer on small expedition cruise ships.
